hey there

I'm so happy you're here.

Two years ago, I felt a strong calling to pursue four key goals:

  • Help keep passionate educators in the classroom

  • Provide meaningful support to teachers

  • Bridge the gap between schools and parents

  • Empower students to thrive

That vision became the foundation for Bridging the Gap Tutoring and Consulting, a place where support, connection, and growth come together for lasting change.

I'd love to connect with you to see if we are a good fit.

all about me

Hi, I’m Kaitlyn Frizzell.

I am a former classroom teacher who later became an interventionist, coach, and learning specialist. With a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Reading Education, I quickly realized my true passion was supporting students who struggle academically. My teaching career began in a small rural school with no set curriculum, just state standards to guide instruction. Like many first-year teachers, I initially poured my energy into classroom decor and tried to emulate colleagues who seemed to have it all figured out. Behind the scenes, however, I often felt overwhelmed and unsure of how to truly reach students who didn’t grasp concepts right away, especially in math. Math had always been a personal challenge for me, including needing to take remedial math in college because I just couldn't get my ACT score high enough. It wasn’t until I attended a training in 2023 that it finally “clicked.” I had been taught procedures and abstract concepts but never fully understand what was happening with the numbers. Because I know what it feels like to struggle in math, I bring a deep empathy and understanding to the students I work with.

Eventually, I moved to a larger district and taught ELA, but I still felt like I was going through the motions. It wasn’t until I stepped into roles as an RTI Lead, interventionist, coach, and ultimately Learning Specialist that I truly began to understand how students learn, and how to meet their unique needs in a lasting way.

Over the past five years, I’ve worked directly with students and families through academic coaching and intervention. I’ve seen firsthand how often parents are left feeling confused and unsure about their child’s progress. Terms like “they’re making progress” can feel vague and unhelpful. At the same time, I know that many teachers simply don’t have the time, tools, or support needed to meet every student's needs fully.

That’s why I created Bridging the Gap Tutoring and Consulting, to partner with families who want clear, practical insight into how their child is doing, what support they need, and how to get them there. I use research-backed strategies, data, and real-world experience to bridge the gap between where students are and where they can flourish.
